Inside INdiana Business - As part of his Next Level Agenda, Gov. Eric Holcomb is calling on the Indiana General Assembly to provide $500 million in new funding for the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, or READI. Communities all over the state are seeing the impact of the first round of funding, including west central Indiana. The Wabash River RDA, which spans six counties, received $20 million in READI funds in late 2021, and Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett calls the funding critical for the region.
Guys Who Give Vigo County awarded $5,950 to Friends of Rea Park Inc. as its continues to help the effort to renovate William S. Rea Park Golf Course and the surrounding park.
Tribune-Star - Wabash Valley Art Spaces was awarded $450,000 Wednesday from the Vigo County Capital Improvement Board toward Phase II and Phase III of the Turn to the River project. “We’re in a better place, it’s not rampant and we’re not hearing about the severe illness and death,” said Wabash Valley Health Center CEO Charlie Welker. “But we can’t let our guard down as we get into winter; we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a spike in (COVID-19) cases.”
Tribune-Star - More than 6,500 people have visited the downtown Terre Haute Convention Center from its opening in April through the end of August.
While July was a slow month, which is typical for convention centers, August was “a good month,” said Tennille Wanner, OVG 360’s general manager of the Terre Haute Convention Center. OVG 360 is contracted to manage the facility for the Vigo County Capital Improvement Board.
