TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – This morning, regional leaders from across West Central Indiana gathered at the Wabash Valley Community Foundation to unveil the West Central Indiana Regional Community Plan—a unified, strategic vision aimed at enhancing economic development, infrastructure, and quality of life throughout the region.
Developed through extensive community engagement and collaboration, the plan reflects the shared priorities of Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo Counties. The initiative was made possible by a grant from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, and the plan was created through a partnership between the Wabash River Regional Development Authority (RDA) and RJL Solutions.
“Over the past seven years, we've collaborated in meaningful ways to enhance the overall quality of life and create more economic opportunity for the communities we serve,” said Chad Jenkins of the Wabash River RDA. “This kind of partnership is what makes our region stronger, and today’s progress reflects our shared commitment to building a brighter future for all.”
The plan outlines actionable strategies for workforce development, infrastructure investments, housing, and improving overall quality of life—positioning West Central Indiana for sustainable, long-term growth.
“The Community Foundation is proud to support this important initiative,” said Beth Tevlin, President and CEO of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation. “We believe in the power of partnerships, and this plan demonstrates how much can be accomplished when communities come together with a common purpose and a regional mindset.”
The event also served as the kickoff to a broader rollout of community-focused plans across the region, including the See You In Terre Haute Community Plan and the Clay County Community Plan—each aligned under the regional framework and funded through the same grant initiative.
