Tribune-Star - Ivy Tech Terre Haute has announced Sonja Jordan is the campus’ new director of diversity, equity, and belonging.

“I am honored to serve as the new director of diversity, equity, and belonging,” Jordan said. “Diversity is not just a concept, but a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual’s unique background and perspective are not only valued but celebrated.”

Jordan has served as the college’s diversity leader for four years prior to being named director. Jordan is involved with various organizations across the Wabash Valley and recently participated in United Way’s African American Board Leadership Institute.

In conjunction with the appointment, Ivy Tech also announced plans to open a Diversity, Equity and Belonging Center.

Made possible by the READI grant, this center represents a dedicated space where students, faculty, staff, and the broader community can engage in meaningful dialogue, access resources and collaborate on initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and belonging throughout the college.

Longtime Ivy Tech employee Jaime Sullivan, director of disability services, joins the Diversity, Equity, and Belonging Center.
